About Jannis Vann and Associates Our History Jannis Vann's Biography Our Staff Awards Our History Jannis Vann and Associates, Inc. was established in 1982 as Custom Home Planning and incorporated as Jannis Vann and Associates in 1989. Jannis started by working out of her home as a free lance drafter. She established her own business in March of 1982. Working with local home builders as clients, she began to build a portfolio of home plans she could offer for resale. In 1984 she published a small book of home plans for her local clients. In 1986 her portfolio had grown to a point where she could publish a high quality, fully rendered publication. This book was sent to other house plan publishers who showed interest in her home designs and began publishing her work on a national scale. back to top Jannis Vann's Biography Jannis Vann is the President and principle designer of Jannis Vann and Associates, Inc. in Woodstock, Georgia. Jannis attended Georgia State University and Southern Institute of Technologies before embarking on an apprenticeship with builders, architects and other residential designers in the Southeast and Midwest over a ten year period. A native of Woodstock, Jannis came back to her hometown to start a business of her own in 1982. While her children were young Jannis worked out of her home, but soon moved into offices close by and began to employ a staff in her desire to fill the growing needs of her business. Jannis developed her first proprietary plan book in 1986, the same year she joined the American Institute of Building Design . She became a Certified Professional Building Designer in 1987 and began publishing nationally. Jannis was the first featured home designer in Better Homes and Gardens "Home Plan Ideas". She has won excellence awards in the American Institute of Building Design's annual national design competition as well as first place and excellence awards at the regional level. In 1997 she was awarded the association's coveted "Designer of the Year" award and in 1996 she was the first woman in 20 years to be elected to the AIBD's highest honor, the College of Fellows. She currently is the only active female to hold this honor. Jannis has also had her home designs featured in several home builder's association "Parade of Homes". Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas are just a few of the states. Her designs are well received because of her economical balance of material costs with the type of features you desire. For example, her collection features traditional, country and European exteriors with contemporary open flowing interiors. Luxury master suites are in all of her plans, regardless of their square footage. back to top Our Staff Scott Jordan joined the company in 1988. Starting as a drafting intern he has worked diligently to learn the business. He currently heads the drafting department handling all of the production drawings. He now has his own portfolio of designs for publication through the company. Look for the SJ behind the plan number. These are Scott’s plans. Sabrina Davis joined us in 1989. She started doing some drafting as well as printing duties. She has handled virtually every job in the office from secretarial duties to drafting and home design. Sabrina now manages our artwork department but assists Scott with plan development and plan modification. Kim Teague came to us in the spring of 1996. Kim has a variety of responsibilities. Not only does she manage the office, but also handles sales and customer service. If you contact our office by phone you will have the pleasure of dealing with Kim. She will answer your questions or direct you to someone who can. She is also assisting Sabrina with readying plans for publication. Jennifer Godwin joined the firm in the fall of 2001. She comes to us with a background in lighting and interior design. Currently, she manages our print department where she handles all of our order fulfillment and makes sure your home plan order is received in a timely manner and without mistakes. Jennifer is also training on CAD to assist in plan development specializing in interior detailing.
